Using De-Googled Phone....
[link—standalone]Hey, ppl so I have have been using a phone with no google services at all. WOW you're so cool for that hidmari. But why would you do such a thing?????
GrapheneOS ftw...
I have a Google Pixel. Not something I really like because google is really retarded. I hate how the phone drains battery so much the amount of bloat. And muh privacy it doesn't have at all. Privacy doesn't exist at all on any hardware. There's only limiting what you can give. If that makes sense.
But I started using GrapheneOS for a bunch of reasons. So let's talk about those reasons.
1. It's a dumb phone
Using phones have been a net negative for me. I would for the most part of my time use them to brainrot and scroll on sites like instagram and youtube. Phones now are very much made with the mindset that social media is going to be used. Many Samsung phones come with apps such as instagram preinstalled. And won't even allow you to uninstall them from your phone. They let you disable them. Phones now or just smartphones are being made with the purpose of being used more than a phone. It became a smaller computer that is more stimulating. It eats up your time by tenfold.
While using GrapheneOS it has made me more robust in how I use the phone. Because I only have messages and a XMPP chatapp. Well that's about it. I don't have google play store installed, and I will only use the phone to talk to my girlfriend or family and friends who need me. I don't do much on it besides those things. Sometimes I might listen to music from my jellyfin on it while I do chores around the house or clean my room. But besides that there isn't really any rotting of anykind as I use it. I think a result of this is now I'm less stimulated all the time and I can live in silenece now.
2. Muh PrivacyI don't think there is any privacy while being online. Just limiting what you give but there exists a comfort into using GrapheneOS. I doubt google doesn't have a backdoor of some sort installed into their pixels. But I love how much you are given direct control of. You can strip apps from having network perms, storage, and even scope perms. Something that vanilla android can't do or won't let you because of the powers that be. I love this freedom it gives while it might be just the illusion of it. It's nice and I like that. Feels nice I'd say!!!
